Samsung's Q80T series is packed with fresh ideas — it won an Innovation Award at CES 2020. The 85" QN85Q80T starts strong with a full-array backlight with local dimming (FALD). The backlight's precisely controlled dimming zones respond scene by scene, improving contrast for deeper blacks and brighter whites. That produces the realistic contrast and brightness peaks that make HDR content leap off the screen..

The Q80T series also includes Samsung's Ultra Viewing Angle film layer that spreads out the backlight's illumination more widely, while also reducing screen glare, ensuring a vivid picture no matter where you sit.

The QN85Q80T's innovative Object Tracking Sound uses AI-based software to match the TV's sound with the movement of objects on the screen. Dedicated up-firing and down-firing speakers deliver vividly realistic audio on everything you watch. It's especially effective on a screen this large.

Samsung knows that most of us still aren't watching 4K content all the time, so the QN85Q80T includes their powerful Quantum Processor 4K, which is based on video processing advances developed for their much pricier 8K TVs.

Samsung's 4K AI Upscaling takes an advanced approach to video upconversion. The company's engineers looked at a wide range of video content — movies, sports, YouTube clips, Blu-rays, and DVDs — and created databases with millions of low- and high-resolution images. By comparing the content you're watching to these databases on the fly, 4K AI Upscaling reduces noise, restores lost detail, and better defines edges around objects and text. And as Samsung updates their algorithms, they can send out firmware updates to upgrade your TV.

The set's Real Game Enhancer+ improves motion clarity to reduce halo and blur, and supports variable refresh rate for smooth gaming graphics without frame tearing or stuttering.

Smart TV capabilities that will make you feel smart

Samsung's 2020 4K TVs include the Apple TV streaming app, so you can rent, buy, and watch titles from Apple's video library, and subscribe to Apple TV channels, without connecting a separate device. The QN85Q80T also supports Apple® AirPlay® 2, so you'll be able to stream content wirelessly from your iPhone®, iPad®, or Mac® to a much bigger screen.

Samsung's slender OneRemote is one of the smartest remotes we've seen. It automatically detects, identifies, and controls your connected devices and content. The OneRemote gives you two ways to activate either of the TV's built-in intelligent voice assistants: Bixby or Alexa. You can either press the "mic" button on the remote, or simply say "Hi Bixby" or "Alexa" within range of the remote's far-field microphone.

The QN85Q80T is also compatible with Google Home voice assistants (firmware update required).
